New Orleans, New Orleans….

   New Orleans, 
l’uragano Katrina, Jim Burke e Mary Gauthier. Quali sono i nessi? Eccoli, dannatamente semplici. JLBurke ha legato la sua vita a New Orleans e a New Iberia. Mary – cantante – è nata e cresciuta tra New Orleans e altre parti (spesso non belle) della Louisiana. Entrambi hanno dedicato qualcosa di molto particolare alla distruzione operata dall’uragano Katrina ai danni della loro città. Per Burke si tratta di un racconto, Jesus out to the sea (ne abbiamo già parlato…). Per Mary si tratta di una canzone, Cant’ find way home, compresa nel suo ultimo e bellissimo Between daylight and dark (per saperne di più sul disco: www.risonanza.net) . La canzone narra il dramma di chi – come Mary – ha guardato in tivù la marea dell’acqua che distruggeva la sua città, il suo quartiere, la sua casa, senza poter “tornare a casa”….  Jim e Mary, lontani, probabilmente nemmeno si conoscono, eppure così drammaticamente vicini nel modo di sentire, di raccontare, di scrivere o cantare….
